Launching… Ingenuity West Midlands 2020

We are delighted to invite you to our digital launch and hear from regional experts on the challenge of Building Community.

This vibrant session will be via 45-minute webinar format where you will:

· Hear a range of perspectives on the challenge from individuals in the region, academia and commercial organisations

· Find out more about Ingenuity West Midlands and who’s involved

· Discover more about the national Ingenuity 2020 Summer Events programme and plans for 2020/21

· Have an opportunity to ask questions and share your comments

Panel members confirmed:

Jonothan Neelands

Jonothan is a National Teaching Fellow, Academic Director for Cultural Partnerships University of Warwick and Professor of Creative Education at Warwick Business School. He was Director of Study for the Warwick Commission on the Future of Cultural Value and Director of Research Projects for the Creative Industries Federation. He was the lead writer of the Coventry Cultural Strategy 2017-2027, contributed to Coventry’s successful bid to be UK City of Culture 2021 and is now the Academic Lead for Research and Evaluation Coventry City of Culture Trust.

Rashid Bhayat

Rashid established his first social venture in 1997 at the age of 17, which worked with young people in one of the UK’s most challenging neighbourhoods. Since then, he has worked on behalf of a range of agencies at a local, regional and national level, designing and implementing social change programmes for young people and communities. Rashid is the Founder and CEO of the Positive Youth Foundation, which supports young people who find themselves in a wide range of complex and challenging circumstances.

Rashid’s professional interest also include supporting social enterprise development, public service transformation and wider social impact programmes. Rashid is also a Trustee of the Coventry City of Culture Trust, the vehicle established to lead on the 2021 UK City of Culture title.

Ingenuity 2020 is a nationwide programme pioneered by the University of Nottingham; and we, the University of Warwick, are very proud to be working in partnership with Nottingham to host Ingenuity West Midlands, enabling us to explore challenges with a regional focus. The four Ingenuity challenges seek to address elements of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and are framed as follows:

· Tackle climate change

· Improve health

· Create prosperity
